MMA’S ONGOING PROTEST AGAINST E-KESIHATAN

19 September 2007

The Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) welcomes the news reports by the Road Transport Department (RTD) and request by Supremme Systems Sdn Bhd to consult the Association before implementing the e-kesihatan scheme.

When contacted, the MMA was informed that the senior officers in both the RTD and Supremme Systems Sdn Bhd are currently away performing the Umrah and thus the meeting between us can only held next week.

Henceforth, the MMA would like to urge the RTD to postpone the implementation of this scheme until the officers concerned are back and details of the medical examination as well as the scheme itself can be worked out. By doing this, the exercise can therefore be carried out smoothly and achieve its desired objectives.

The Ministry of Transport must seriously look into all the issues raised by the various parties before the implementing the e-kesihatan scheme. Otherwise, accidents will continue to occur. Human lives - drivers, passengers and the general public will be lost. Afterall, the e-kesihatan project is to prevent this.
